1) How long does it take to build a home?
The building schedule depends on 3 things: weather, complexity,
and amenities. But, on average, we complete a home in 90 to 120
days. For all homes, we set up a schedule to help determine when
each subcontractor will complete their work, and when the new house
will be ready for move in.
2) Do I have to use an RDP plan, or can you
use one of your own?
We have a variety of plans that you can customize, or bring us your
plan and we’ll build it for you. We work closely with a local
draftsman, so we can even start from scratch or a rough sketch.
One of our goals is to make each home unique, and it starts with
your input on the design.
3) What is the average cost per square foot
for a new home?
That answer to that question contains so many variables that it’s
hard to answer without first asking several questions of you. It
costs more to build in some areas than in others, and the cost of
raw materials can fluctuate. So an “average cost per square
foot” doesn’t tell you much – it’s kind
of like asking how much a new computer costs per pound. It doesn’t
help to make a good decision about which one to buy.
If you want to talk through pricing, give us a call. Based on what
you have in mind, we can answer that question in a more helpful
way than just an “average cost.”
4) Are your homes Prefabricated or Modular?
No, all of our homes are built onsite, board by board. The benefit
of having them built onsite is the freedom of customization. If
there is a last minute adjustment, it’s easier if to change
onsite. Another important benefit is hands-on quality control. If
the lumber or building materials don’t meet our high standards,
it’s returned and new material is brought out. Our job is
to build you a quality home, and by hand framing we’re one
step closer to fulfilling our promise to you.
5) Do I get to make my own selections and color
choices?
Absolutely! As the homeowner, you’ll be surprised at the flexibility
you have to make your new home unique. Floor coverings, cabinets,
countertops, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and wood species
(oak, maple, cherry, etc.) are just an example of the selections
the homeowner gets to make.
Feeling overwhelmed by all the options? No problem. Brenda Heiberg,
our Design Coordinator, would be happy to help you.
6) Do I need a realtor or can I call RDP directly?
If you have a realtor you’d like to work with, great! If not,
we have a licensed broker and realtor that can help you. Call our
office and make an appointment to meet with the builder himself,
Roger Van Beek. He can discuss your individual situation, and how
we can assist you.
7) Why should we build with RDP Builders?
Simple – we promise you a high quality, professionally built
home that you will be proud to call home. Ask anyone who owns an
RDP home – quality is
our #1 priority. Come see our models, and talk to our homeowners.
You’ll be impressed, we guarantee it!
